Matterhorn Ultraks - Run facing the Matterhorn, experience an exceptional trail

Every summer, the Alpine village of Zermatt plays host to one of Europe's most emblematic trail running events: the Matterhorn Ultraks. With the The Matterhorn in the background, With formats to suit all abilities and an atmosphere that's both friendly and ultra-sporty, this race has become a must for mountain lovers and those seeking a challenge. Since 2013, the Ultraks has been attracting spectators with the diversity of its courses, its technical demands and its unique atmosphere, in the heart of one of the most beautiful panoramas in Switzerland.

Course

• EXTREME - 27 km / 3’175 m D+ (over 10,000 ft)
  A challenging route in a high mountain environment, with glacier, rocks and ridges. For experienced riders only. Start on Friday at 08:00.

• SKY - 49 km / 3’600 m D+ (altitude gain)
  A flagship event combining speed, altitude and technique, with the ascent to the Gornergrat (3’100 m). Departure on Saturday at 07:00.

• MOUNTAIN - 32 km / 2’000 m D+ (altitude gain)
  A journey through spectacular landscapes with the Gorner Gorge suspension bridge as a highlight. Departure on Saturday at 09:30.

• ACTIVE - 19 km / 1’150 m D+ (over 1250 ft)
  An accessible format for beginner runners or those looking for a shorter effort, without losing any of the scenery. Starts on Saturday morning.

• VERTINIGHT - 4.9 km / 691 m D+ climb
  A night-time climb by headlamp to Sunnegga. A magical atmosphere under the stars. Departure on Friday at 20:45.

• RELAY by Loyco - 32 km / 2’000 m D+ (altitude gain)
  Race in teams of 3 on the MOUNTAIN course, with relay sections at Sunnegga and Furi. Ideal for combining performance and team spirit.

• Children's races - WOLLI (900 m) & SUPERWOLLI (2.6 km)
  Two routes adapted to each age group to introduce the youngest to running in a safe and fun environment.
