55K Chamois - 03.05.2025

Right from the start, the tone is set: 6km and 1000D+ before reaching Suchet! First refreshment at km 8.

A short descent before starting the ascent to the Aiguilles de Baulmes before a long, flat descent to the Col des Etroits.

S’ this is followed by the climb to Le Cochet, with a refreshment stop at Le Avattes at km 25. A nice short descent before the tough climb up to the Chasseron and its magnificent panorama.

Another rolling descent towards Les Cluds and the 3rd feed station at km 37. We need to build up our strength to climb back up towards the Chasseron and the Petites Roches, before dropping back to the Avattes at km 44 for a refreshment stop.

From there, it's a big, foot-stomping descent between fields and tarmac to reach the Step de St.-Croix and begin the ascent to Mont de Baulmes for the final refreshment stop at km 51.

Once you've had your fill, it's downhill to the long-awaited finish.

It's a magnificent route through forest paths, pastures and roads. It's a demanding route because it can be technical, and it's a real leg-breaker because of the alternation of steep climbs and equally steep descents.

Recommendation: Make sure you have enough water and food, as the refreshment points are certainly well-stocked, but they are very far apart!

I highly recommend it!

A very nice trail, even for the short 11.5 km route. A tough climb, but well worth it.
