1000 Lights Run
At the heart of the Three-Lakes region, Murten plays host to a not-to-be-missed night-time event on the Fribourg calendar. This running event puts the emphasis on visual experience and conviviality, transforming the medieval town into a spectacular light show where pleasure takes precedence over performance.
The routes

Course des Lucioles (800 m) : A completely flat loop reserved for children (categories U6 to U12). There's no stopwatch here, just fun and fancy dress to shine from an early age.

1000 Lights Run (5 km) : A non-timed route winding through the picturesque streets of the old town and along the shores of the lake. Runners move to the rhythm of the light installations for a unique sensory experience.
Practical info The course offers a great urban variety, alternating between historic cobblestones, rolling tarmac and lakeside paths. The nerve centre of the event, including the start and finish, is in the Längmatt area, close to the primary school.
Atmosphere Competition takes a back seat to the magic of the moment. The participants take off in a magical atmosphere, punctuated by artistic lighting effects and creative costumes. It's a real celebration of sport, where you take the time to admire the scenery, and it's ideal for a no-pressure outing with family or friends.
