Mont Blanc Marathon - One of Europe's most legendary trails

Every summer, Chamonix is transformed into the trail capital of the world for the Mont Blanc Marathon. Organised by the Club des Sports de Chamonix, this event brings together over 10,000 runners and offers 8 unique formats in a breathtaking setting in the heart of the Mont-Blanc massif. The atmosphere is both demanding and friendly, combining a competitive spirit with shared pleasure on the trails.

The routes

90 km du Mont-Blanc - 6330 D+ (6,330 km)

An ultra trail reserved for seasoned runners, this technical route mainly takes in altitudes between 2,000 and 2,500 metres. Aerial passages, snowy sections, changing weather: this trail is a real mountain adventure.

42 km du Mont-Blanc - 2540 D+ (over 10,000 miles)

The highlight of the weekend's race, with a legendary ascent to the aiguillette des Posettes and a grand finale facing Mont-Blanc. Ideal for experienced runners looking for a thrill.

  • 3 full feed stations + 1 at the finish

23 km of Mont-Blanc - 1680 D+ / 870 D-

A historic course created in 1979, perfect for experiencing the very essence of the alpine trail. The atmosphere is friendly and the scenery exceptional.

  • 2 full feed stations + 1 at the finish

Duo Étoilé - 21 km / 1450 D+ (star duo)

A night-time race to be completed in pairs, on a technical and immersive route. An original format, to be experienced in pairs under the stars.

  • 1 full feed, 1 light feed, 1 finish feed

10 km du Mont-Blanc - 325 D+ - France

A race open to all, ideal for beginners to trail running. Short climbs, fun descents and a friendly atmosphere.

  • Difference in altitude: 325 m D+ (+)

  • Time limit: 2 h 30

  • 1 refreshment station at the finish

Kilomètre Vertical - 3.8 km / 1000 D+ (vertical kilometre)

Explosive time trial finishing in Planpraz. Demanding format, with a finish close to a via ferrata. No poles allowed.

  • Distance: 3.8 km

  • Difference in altitude: 1000 m altitude gain

  • Start every 15 sec

  • 1 refreshment area at the finish

The Young Race - 7 km / 650 D+ (over 650mph)

Dedicated U18/U20 format with a festive atmosphere, sporting challenges and great prizes.

  • Time limit: 1 h 30

  • 1 refreshment station at the finish

Mini-Cross - 800 m to 3 km

Free races for children with medals, family atmosphere and final tombola. Distances according to age category.

Practical information

Departures from the centre of Chamonix. Refreshments adapted to each format. Medical assistance, entertainment, trail village, wave starts. Semi-autonomy compulsory for some races. Some technical sections prohibit the use of poles.
