But should you take out the cancellation insurance offered when you register? We conducted a survey of the L\u00e9man Running community and analysed the practices of the main registration platforms in Switzerland and elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-les-resultats-de-notre-sondage-73-disent-non\">The results of our survey: 73 % say no<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Out of 101 voters in our<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/649598392161977\"> Facebook group <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>27 % have already subscribed<\/strong>&nbsp;cancellation insurance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>73 % have never done so<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-raisons-principales-de-ceux-qui-disent-non\">Main reasons for saying no :<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00abIt's too complicated to get even a partial refund. - David<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00abI tick no systematically\u00bb. - Chantal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00abI take the risk, and in the worst case I lose the money. - Maria<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00abToo expensive. Others see it as a&nbsp;<strong>marketing leverage<\/strong>&nbsp;Offering optional insurance can reassure runners and boost registrations, especially when the race is expensive or registration is very early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-citation-d-un-professionnel-du-secteur\">Quote from an industry professional<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u00abCancellation insurance can save you a lot of money, as long as you read the terms and conditions carefully. You need to be reactive and provide the supporting documents in good time. And with registrations coming in earlier and earlier, some riders now prefer to play it safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before taking out a policy, it's worth asking yourself a few specific questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Is this a priority objective for my season?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are bibs expensive?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What are the exact conditions for reimbursement (certificate, percentage, time limits)?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is the refund total or partial?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do I have the experience to prepare successfully without injury?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Example of the Milan Marathon: for 10 euros of insurance, reimbursement is possible without justification. If the request is made before 6 February, it is 100 % for the race number. Between 7 February and 30 March, it's 75 %, excluding administration costs. All you have to do is send an email and fill in a form. Simple and effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In short, think carefully. It may not be essential for every race. But for an ultra or a major marathon, it's a real peace of mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-exemples-concrets\">Concrete examples<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Injury 5 days before a semi at CHF 75: reimbursement possible if insurance taken out with certificate.
